Criminal Defense

You need a criminal defense attorney if you’ve been arrested and charged with a crime or received a summons related to a crime. James Knight of Knight Law, LLC, defends you of criminal charges such as:

  • DUI
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Assault or battery
  • Reckless driving
  • Possession of illegal substances (1st or 2nd offense)
  • Trafficking
  • Misdemeanors

Arrests or summons aren’t only legally serious, but embarrassing and stressful. Reach out for legal help as soon as possible. The more quickly you contact James, the more quickly your criminal defense casework can begin.

A charge does not equal a conviction.

Remember: Just because you’ve been charged doesn’t mean you’ve been convicted of a crime. An arrest or summons means you’ve been accused of a crime. But until the prosecutor proves “beyond a reasonable doubt” that the crime has been committed, you, the defendant, are presumed innocent.

Criminal Defense Process

The criminal defense process varies depending on the case. However, James Knight will assure you understand the charges being brought against you and the steps that you and he need to take to make the best case for your criminal defense. That may mean mitigation, such as treatment in the case of a DUI or drug charge, or other recommendations for best options.

Expungement

In very rare cases, certain criminal cases may be eligible for expungement, which means your record is no longer publicly accessible. Expungement will not destroy the record, nor hide it from government agencies, but it will keep the charges confidential from public record (e.g. general employment background check, landlord). It’s important to note that a pardon is not the same thing as an expungement, nor does a pardon mean your record is automatically expunged.

Don’t delay. Contact James Knight at Knight Law, LLC for criminal defense legal services and to discuss your arrest or summons, today.
